The CF Institute offers a 15-hour MSF approved Basic Rider Course (BRC), which provides an introduction to the fundamentals of safe, responsible motorcycling. This includes the knowledge and skills necessary to ride safely on the streets and highways. The BRC provides basic entry-level skills for all riders regardless of experience. BRC instructors coach riders to develop the physical skills of basic control that include straight line riding, stopping, turning/shifting, and then move on to more advanced skills like stopping quickly, cornering, and swerving. Insurance, motorcycle, helmet and student handbook are provided for the course. Students must provide/wear eye protection, gloves (full hand coverage), long pants, long sleeved shirt or jacket, and sturdy over-the-ankle footwear. Our classes meet Wednesday evening 6-9 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.. Students must pass a written and riding test in class; no further testing is required at the license office. Students must have a valid drivers license to register. As of July 1, 2008, completion of this course is required for all motorcyclists who wish to obtain a motorcycle endorsement or motorcycle only license. Upon successful completion of the course, you may be entitled to insurance premium discounts through participating insurance companies. We do not conduct 3-wheel or trike training.
